secret world
We think that fresh coffee is still something of a “secret world”. The
vast majority of coffee consumed in the UK today is instant and that’s
anything but REAL coffee.
Real, fresh coffees differ in taste much as fine wines do and capturing
that flavour is a skill that only true coffee masters possess.
our coffee master
The aim of the Fresh Coffee company is to bring the magical work of
our coffee master, a man who takes pride in balancing the character of
each coffee variety with the skill of the roaster, to you. Captured for
you are… the soft delicate flavours created in the highlands of Kenya…
the dark exotic flavours created high up on volcanic slopes in Indonesian…
or the velvety smooth taste of the Zambian Mazabuka… the sheer creativity
and passion to conjure the finest flavours that linger in the mouth and
the mind, that create those special coffee moments most prized by coffee
connoisseurs.
why do we sell ground coffee?
Obtaining the correct grind to make great coffee is just as important
as the roast colour, the variety or the origin. Most home grinders will
not produce a consistent grind size of the coffee beans and this means
that you won’t get the best from your coffee. Coffee is not crushed or
milled when it is ground, instead it is “cut” into progressively smaller
and smaller pieces. Many home grinders will “smash” your beans and you
will end up with a range of coffee grain sizes from dust right up to
coarse.
In good grinding, the result is that the coffee granules are correctly sized to ensure that the water used
in preparation can release the coffee flavours and aromatics. At the
fresh-coffee company, we take the guess work out of it by making sure
that the grind is constantly monitored and checked at our roastery.
We also sell beans for those of you who want to grind at home but suggest
that for a cafetiere you want a coarse clean grind, finer for filter
and very fine for espresso.
escape the instant
So, if you want to escape the ‘instant’ world, come to ours and let
us guide you through. Whether you choose your coffee from our range of
origin coffees, ethical origin, beans or espressos one thing is for sure,
you will get a great tasting coffee.
Each of our coffees has a different appeal and whether you choose an
old favourite or try something new, you can be assured of its quality
and freshness.
We ensure all our coffee suppliers maintain high standards of husbandry
and provide adequate facilities for their workers but if you are looking
for ethically sourced coffee then we have two Soil Association approved
growers, one of which is also carries the Fair Trade mark. We also offer
an Utz certified coffee which is fully traceable and grown and managed
to encourage responsible coffee agriculture.
